Robert K. West
Founder and CEO

Bob is responsible for creating and executing Echelon One’s corporate strategy. He has over 23 years of experience in information security, physical security, awareness, strategic planning, governance, organizational change, relationship management, computer network design, implementation and management.

Bob is a frequent speaker on the subject of information security and on the advisory board for Agilance, Security Growth Partners, TriCipher and Trusteer. He is on the board of directors for the Cincinnati Information Systems Security Association (ISSA), the University of Cincinnati’s College of Information Technology Adviosry Board and has also been on Securent’s advisory board (acquired by Cisco), a member of RSA Security’s Customer Advisory Council, and the ISS Customer Advisory Council. He is also been quoted in many periodicals including the Wall Street Journal and BusinessWeek.

Previously, Bob was Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Fifth Third Bank in Cincinnati where he was responsible for the enterprise information security strategy. Prior to joining Fifth Third, Bob worked for Bank One in Columbus where he held several key leadership roles, including Information Security Officer for Bank One's Retail Group. Prior to joining Bank One, Bob was a manager with Ernst & Young’s Information Security Services practice in Chicago, and a Senior Systems Officer with Citicorp International in New York and Chicago.

Bob received the 2004 Digital ID World Conference award for Balancing Innovation and Reality, and a 2004 InfoWorld 100 Award for implementing cross-company authentication using SAML. Bob graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts in German and then received his Master of Science in Management Information Systems from North Central College.


David Mortman, CISSP
CSO In-Residence

David is a thought leader in the information security community and provides his counsel to Echelon One's clients.  Previously, David was Chief Information Security Officer for Siebel Systems, Inc., where he was responsible for Siebel Systems' worldwide IT security program and led Siebel's product security and privacy efforts. He also worked closely with Siebel's product groups and the company's physical security team.

Prior to Siebel, David was Manager of IT Security at Network Associates where, in addition to managing data security he deployed and tested all of their security products before they were released to customers. Prior to Network Associates, Mortman was a Security Engineer for Swiss Bank.

A CISSP, member of USENIX/SAGE and ISSA, and an invited speaker at RSA 2002, 2005, and 2007 security conferences, Mr. Mortman is a past member of the Executive Security Action Forum and has been a panelist at InfoSecurity 2003.  He has spoken at Blackhat and Defcon several times.  

Mr. Mortman sits on a variety of advisory boards including Qualys, Applied Identity, and Reflective.  In 2005 David was a nominee for the National Information Security Executive of the Year award. He holds a BS in Chemistry from the University of Chicago.

 


Jennifer Kurtz
Director, Business Development

Jennifer Kurtz is responsible for managing and executing business development activities for Echelon One. With more than 15 years experience in the academic, government, and manufacturing sectors, she was most recently director of strategic relations and communications at Purdue University's Center for Education and Research in Information Assurance and Security (CERIAS). Prior to CERIAS, Jennifer served a two-year appointment as director of eCommerce for the State of Indiana, where she led the state's first broadband study and conference, authored the Governor's Technology Roundtable report, and chaired various committees for the eGov Task Force. She also obtained recurring federal funding for, and initiated, the Indiana Industries of the Future program. Other government sector experience includes work at the National Security Council, the US Department of State, and the White House.

Jennifer's private sector experience includes five years as IT manager and security officer for Delco Remy International and four years of corporate communications and technology consulting for a division of DynCorp in Fairfax, VA, where she coauthored the ten-year telecommunications strategy plan for the US Department of Treasury.

Jennifer received her BA in International Studies from The American University and her MBA from Anderson University. She was recognized as "Hi Tech Woman of the Year" in 2003, has spoken at various state and national conferences, and has authored several articles on technology-based economic development, women's roles in technology, and eGovernment. She is a member of ACM and is on the Industrial Advisory Board of Purdue's College of Technology.
